Candidate promises to bring proven leadership, independence and a voter’s voice to the Quincy City Council.
QUINCY—School Committee Member Anne Mahoney announced today that she is running for Councillor-at-Large.
“I am running for Quincy City Council-at-Large because I have deep roots here in this city and a strong passion to make sure everyone here has a voice. I have raised my family here and I’m committed to making sure that Quincy is a great city for everyone, from lifelong residents to those just beginning their journey in this fast-changing city.”
Anne understands Quincy is in a period of unprecedented growth and change. It is important that the leadership of the city understands the importance of this time and their role in helping shape the future. She will focus her efforts on fiscal responsibility, traffic issues and over-development in our neighborhoods as some of the key areas of concentration on the council. “With the rapid growth and constant change in Quincy Center, I will also champion the expansion of our commercial base to create even more opportunities in the Center and across our city”
Mahoney said she is aware that there are real concerns for all of our tax paying residents. Concerns around the city’s priorities, increases in spending and a lack of transparency around major decisions are all areas that need to be addressed. “I believe my fiscal management experience will help bring a new level of scrutiny and accountability to how this city conducts business and how information is shared with the tax paying public.”
With 12 years of experience on the School Committee, Anne has earned a reputation as a straight shooter, and someone who listens to the concerns of the community. “I am not afraid to take a stand, ask the difficult questions and, most importantly, vote independently for what is best for the residents of Quincy.
As a member of the City Council, I will make informed decisions only after thorough research and analysis. My votes will always be based on what’s best for our neighborhoods, residents and city.”
A Quincy native, Anne is the fourth generation of her family to live in her West Quincy home at 12 Ferriter St. A graduate of the Quincy Public Schools, she received a Degree in Finance from Suffolk University. She has decades of experience as a senior-level marketing executive, currently serving as a strategic marketing professional for a national bank.
Anne and her husband, Kevin Mahoney, are the proud parents of three children – Maggie, 22, a recent graduate of The Massachusetts College of Art; Liam, 19, a junior at The Massachusetts College of Art; and Rory, 14, a 9th grader at North Quincy High School.
Join Anne on June 21, at 6pm at the Common Market for a campaign kick off. If you can't make the date please volunteer here.
