'I have to do this.' Mahoney announces bid for Quincy at-large councilor
"I really didn't think I was going to be running," she told The Patriot Ledger. "I feel as though I have to do this. I still think I have something I can offer our city, to help guide and direct our leaders, and most importantly, to speak for taxpayers and renters, so we can all feel as though we’re getting a fair shot."

“So it's doubled in price," she said. "The price you had estimated was between $5 (million) and $6 million; now it's almost $14 (million). The size is the same. The same square footage. People who don't golf don't want to spend this kind of money.”

Mahoney harshly criticized the administration for what she called unfair and opaque salary adjustments.
"The disparity through gender bias in pay is blatantly obvious," she said, pointing to the lack of women making $170,000 or more.

City Councilor-at-Large Anne Mahoney said the raises were worthy of more discussion than being lumped into the budget process, and that she doubts they're fair to every employee.

She asked for a report regarding the purchase and a comprehensive explanation of how much DIF money has been spent since the last allocation and on what. The motion was moved into the finance and oversight committees.

"It's all about getting back to local," Anne Mahoney said. "With the pandemic, we were all so focused on the federal level and everything that was going on nationwide with the presidential election. ... As we got back to focusing on the local level, we realized it was hard for publications and even QATV to get the news out. We thought this would be an alternative."
