Supporting our local economy to increase opportunities and amenities available to residents
Residents deserve access to thriving mainstreets with a diverse set of businesses and amenities available to them in their own community. On the Council, I have supported efforts to revitalize Quincy Center, support our local businesses and pushed for the creation of an economic and marketing plan for our City.
As Mayor I will:
Create an economic and marketing plan for Quincy to outline a strategic vision for our economic growth and main streets.
Invest in our main streets to improve our storefronts, creating opportunities that make our main streets destinations like reinstating Taste of Quincy, building pop-ups, repairing our sidewalks, investing in public art and greenery, and expanding outdoor dining and dog-friendly spaces.
Partner with regional and local economic development corporations to support small businesses moving to Quincy and ensure businesses can stay for the long run.
Maximize state funding to better support our downtown to continue the necessary improvements and fully achieve Quincy Center’s status as a cultural district.
Hire a cabinet-level economic development director to work with City Hall, residents, local businesses, and business sector leaders to create a comprehensive strategy around growing our local economy.
Create a more streamlined process that will attract businesses and amenities that Quincy residents crave.
