Investing in public roads and transit corridors

We deserve city streets and transit that foster the highest quality of life for our residents. On the Council, I approved over $100 million for our road repairs and Capital Improvements projects. During the Wollaston T-Station renovations, I stood up for commuters and demanded concessions, including more shuttles, reduced parking rates, and free commuter rail rides for Quincy subway riders.

Quincy Center MBTA Station

Quincy Center MBTA Station has been in disrepair since 2012.

As Mayor I will:

  • Expand and educate our constituents on the "Complete Streets" policy that ensures roads are designed to accommodate pedestrians, cyclists, and public transit users, including the addition of pedestrian-friendly features like sidewalks, crosswalks, and bike lanes to enhance safety and accessibility alongside public awareness campaigns to make our throughways safer.

  • Launch a citywide repair and maintenance program for roads and sidewalks to make our streets more usable for all residents, including a transparent process around how projects are selected and scheduled with easy-to-access project updates.

  • Coordinate with state and federal officials to secure funding support to speed up repair and maintenance projects.

  • Implement smart traffic management systems to optimize traffic flow, reduce congestion, and enhance road safety, including the use of data and technology to monitor traffic patterns and adjust signal timing accordingly, implementing traffic calming measures in residential areas, such as speed tables and raised crosswalks, and enforcing speed limits and resident parking.

  • Work with state and federal officials to promote the safety and reliability of our MBTA stations and service, increasing bus services and expanding MBTA stations, including a long-overdue new Quincy Center T-station and parking for commuters.

  • Promote safe and accessible cycling in our city through safety measures, access to bike sharing, working with the MBTA to secure additional bike cages, and collaboration with local organizations like Quincycles.
